GIA Job: Application Lead Vacancy in Mumbai at Gemological Institute of America

Responsibilities

• Develops relationships with GIA India Laboratory stakeholders to assess technology support and security needs. 
• Advocate business portfolio priorities on behalf of lab clients within the IT organization. 
• Perform feasibility analysis, scopes projects, and works with the project management team to prioritizes deliverables, and negotiate product functionalities. 
• Code, test, implement, and design of in-house software applications to meet both functional and technical requirements. 
• Develop solutions geared towards high performance and loosely coupled services. Analyze, facilitate, model, and organize information in order to reconcile conflicts, elicit requirements and develop solution ideas from lab business needs. 
• Manage end to end solution delivery using appropriate delivery techniques and approaches (e.g. AGILE methodology, design thinking, etc.). 
• Ensure deliverables meet customer expectations for speed, quality, and value. 
• Collaborate with other applications development managers and stakeholders to develop, execute, and continuously improve delivery practices. 
• Other duties as assigned. 
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the Application Development group, providing leadership to its staff 
• Develop policies & procedures that outline all aspects of application development and maintenance including: life-cycle development strategies, testing and implementation plans, and post-implementation monitoring 
• Develop relationships with vendors to ensure proper functionality of existing software technologies 
• Continuously work with vendors to ensure proper functionality of existing software technologies 
• Responsible for performance management 
• Recommend and maintain any hardware improvements required to support all developed systems 

Technical Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• Communication – communicates clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing 
• Experience with leading others to deliver service excellence. 
• Ability to take ownership and become subject matter expert in various parts of the system. 
• Building front end or back end systems. 
• Experience with web frameworks such as Angular, R, NodeJS, SASS, etc.
• Knowledge of Application Middle Tier platforms like WebLogic and Tomcat. 
• Knowledge of core J2EE Development Platform. 
• Experience with SQL and PL/SQL. 
• Experience working with REST / Graph QL API 
• Experience with Agile Scrum development practices. 
• Experience with version control systems like GitHub. 
• Knowledge of container technologies like Docker is a plus. 
• DevOps, continuous delivery, and continuous integration practices knowledge is a plus.
• Working with Microservices architecture is good to have.
• Experience with cloud technologies is good to have. 
• Ability to deal effectively with a variety of personalities to establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
• Ability to fulfill assigned commitments in a timely manner within established budgets while achieving quality results. 
• Excellent grammar, written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to prioritize and resolve conflict when necessary.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 
• 7+ years of experience in application and solution development. 
• 5+ years of experience in architecture design and development. 
• 5+ years of customer interfacing experience – project oversight, customer presentation. 
• Knowledgeable of AWS Cloud Computing environment. 
• Extensive experience of managing client queries and problems.
