The Retail Gemologist at Tanishq plays a critical customer-facing role by ensuring gemstone authenticity, quality assurance, and transparent communication with customers. This position bridges technical gemology expertise and retail consultation, supporting sales teams and reinforcing Tanishq’s credibility and trust standards.

The role involves gemstone verification, client education, certification explanation, and close coordination with sales, merchandising, and operations teams.

Gemstone Verification & Quality Control Authenticate and evaluate diamonds, gemstones, and studded jewellery as per Tanishq standards Verify cut, clarity, color, carat, and overall quality of gemstones Conduct in-store checks using standard gemological tools (loupe, microscope, refractometer, etc.) Ensure compliance with Tanishq quality benchmarks and ethical sourcing standards Customer Consultation & Support Support sales advisors by explaining gemstone characteristics in a clear, confidence-building manner Educate customers on diamond grading, gemstone quality, certifications, and pricing logic Address technical queries from high-value and informed customers Build trust by maintaining transparency during evaluations and discussions Documentation & Certification Review and explain certification reports (GIA/IGI/HRD or internal certifications) Maintain accurate gemological records and internal documentation Assist in acceptance and verification of gemstone jewellery during inward processes Internal Coordination Work closely with sales, merchandising, and operations teams Support store audits, stock checks, and quality compliance reviews Assist in resolving customer quality-related concerns or escalations Process & Compliance Follow company SOPs, security protocols, and ethical standards Ensure accurate handling of high-value jewellery and stones Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all gem-related processes
